League Software
The Haslingden squash league is generated each month by a piece of software written by me.
It calculates the new league using a set of rules as follows :
- Points are calculated for each player in each league
- Players are promoted or demoted according to the points scored
- If a player scores the same points total as another, then these rules are applied to calculate player league positions :
|
|
- Most games played
- Who won between those players
- Least games lost
- Most games won
|
The league calculation is therefore based on some fairly complex rules. The software has been written to make applying these rules flexible, as well as parameters like :
- Number of players in a league
- How many players are promoted or demoted
- How many points awarded for a win, loss or draw
- How many points awarded if a game doesn't get played
The software can output the new league in a division type format of a ladder type format in html, so the output from the software can be put straight onto a web site.
The software can also be used to print off league tables.
